After long run Alhamdulillah I passed the exam of driving license on (16-02-2010). I struggled to pass it. I don’t want anyone to struggle like me. If you are planning to get a driving license in Jeddah then this is the post for you. I will try to write the procedure you should follow for applying and obtaining a driving license.
Applying Procedure
1. You need 1 set of photocopy of your passport.
2. You need 1 photocopy of your IQAMA (ID card).
3. You need 6 passport size pictures.
4. You need to make a file with all this document and fill the application
form. You need 400 SR for the license which you have to pay in Bank or you pay to dalal 50 SR they will do the payment for you.
Best way to do this you should give 10 SR to a dalal there they
will fill the form for you and make the file ready.
5. Those guys will tell where should you go. After that each counter of the dallah will give you all the direction of which counter you go.
6. After that they will take a small test of reverse parking. Note: Remember to put seat belt and check the mirrors. Those car is new Camry Car. So careful about the accelerator. It’s so soft. Most of the people mistakes car starts goes off. This is really bad luck.
7. After the test they will give you a mark from four (أ,ب,ض,ج).
أ = 1 day class
ب = 5 days class
ض = 15 days class
30 days = ج 1 month class
8. After that you have to pay for the class which is 435 SR.
9. Then they will give you the class and all the instructions you need.
Passing Tips
1. Don’t be afraid in front of police. Most of the people they afraid and there leg shakes. And then they failed.
2. For signal test in the class they will tell you the same questions which
will appear in the exam. They will tell you the first 10 questions which
will appear in the exam. So try to note those questions and buy a signal paper.
You cant do a mistake in first 10 questions. You have choice of 5 mistakes after
The 10 question but not the first 10 questions. So don’t do any mistake that time.

This is very easy to pass driving test but it depend on your confidence. you must keep your confidence up. after finishing driving school you will be advised to come this date.
you should reach at 7 O’clock bcz after 7 they close the gate and start some dua if you remember and pray to Allah to pass you easily and bring this exam easy for you. when you sit with police for try, recite 4 last sura and blow it to police and gurented say that you will be sucess but with this you should follow the below points:
1. Fasten your belt
2. arrange all miror according your choice
3. Your set adjustment.
4. check hand break.
5. give small accelator to conform that car is switch on or not.
6. be careful when you pass the signs. you should stop if necessary when you see signs.
After pass the drivinig test you will be inform to go Room No.8 this the computer signals room. when you stand in frot of computer you must recite some quran verses or surat or dua and start with name of Allah. I assure you that you will must pass when you start with name of Allah and dua. now a days they changed the computer procedures. you have to allowed 5 mistak and you can do mistake any where i.e in 1st step or after 10 now no problem. but you will have only 30 minutes and you should salove 15 question in this time. therefore when you sure on your answer click the right answer bcz you have alot of time. I finish my computer with in 8 minutes. don’t be affraid.

| Before going to the License Office you need following things:

| Once you have above mentioned things, just take a taxi and ask him to take you to Old Dallah Driving School. Taxi will take 15-20 Saudi Riyals. You are suggested to go there earlier in the morning (reach by 7 am).
Now go to shop next to the entrance gate. (You will be approached by persons for license payment in bank. They will asking 430 SR or 450 SR as fees for bank payment. Dont turn to them as you had already completed that in Item #8) From shop, you will get application form which will be filled for you in Arabic then and enclosed in file cover . Total cost for you is 15 riyals |
| Now go to Room number 2 in the license office. The person on extreme left will do Eye-sight test. The person on extreme right counter will check your forms, stamp and send you to “License Check” counter. Here one more person will put a stamp on your application and send you for “first try”. This trial place is behind the building where you are standing.
There will be a car or more and person will be sitting inside. He will ask you to drive the car a little ahead and then reverse a little. Don’t worry it is just to see whether you have ever touched the car or not. The person inside will make his comments on your application. |
| Now come back to room # 2 and deposit SR 100. He will take your file and ask you to attend a 3 hour class. There will be a three hour class in which you will be taught the basics and after that there will be a computer test. Attend the class very carefully and also read all the things written on front and backside of the chart they give you during the class.

| The questions that are going to be asked for the touch screen computer test, will be mentioned during the class by the training instructor. After class they will take you to a room where you will wait for the test to start.
There would be 20 questions and you have to answer them in 30 minutes. If you make any mistake in the first ten questions, then you are failed. In next 10 questions you have to give only five correct answers. If you clear the computer test then they will test your driving. Congratulations, if you clear the test. By the way, it is very easy test. You just have to drive the car for some meters or you might have to do some simple reverse etc. Cars are of model “Cadillac Custom/Camry 2006”. Cars are with gears; not automatic. |
| Go to room number 1 (main room) and just on your left there is a place where “License Delivery” is written. Get your counter number from here and the go to the counter. Now wait until they deliver you the New Driving License.

hi!!i am new here in jubail…i want to apply for driving licence…problem is, once i was applying for aviation, eye specialist told me that i am colour blid as i could not read the ishirah correctly (book used for colour blid test) and he rejected me..but in fact i can see and distinguish signal lights red, yello,green, blue very easily and there is no problem in that….so can anybody suggest me please whether the maroor doctor test the colour blindness and if yes then what is the procedure ….???or if i go to some other doctor in jubail city for eye test the n which hospital???.my eye sight is 6/6….can any body guide me please!!thanx

2)if your vehicle jerks you will be failed.
3) stop at crossing’s
4)use the signal lights at all bends.
5)when u stop use the double signal.
6)wear your seat belt at all times.

stopping on a hill and moving the vehicle forward with out it going back. if it goes back they will fail.
there is a 8 which you have to drive if u hit any sides ul be failed.

Alhamdulillah, i got my driving license today i.e. 27/04/2011.. I had given the driving test yesterday..
I have been closely following the comments posted on this blog and Alhamdulillah i was able to get an idea regarding the test.. Thanx a lot to the admin and other brothers who have shared their experiences here..
I wish to give an updated procedure for obtaining the license, especially through the Mahjar driving school as very few people happen to apply there. Most of the people prefer to go to Dallah (I dont know the reason why)..
Firstly, the good news is that the Mahjar test is very easy as compared to Dallah and the policemen are better and polite than those at Dallah. Also there is not much rush there as there are only 50-60 applicants.
The location of the Mahjar driving school is near South Mall in Ghulayl dist. We can easily ask anybody around there.
Now regarding the procedure and the requirements..
You will need to take with you:
— 1 hanging folder file (green for private vehicles)
— 6 passport size photos (with white background)
— 1 set of iqama copy
— 1 set of passport copy
— 1 set of copy of driving license of your country (if you have one)
— Blood group test report (to save time)
— 1 set of iqama copy of your sponsor (only in case you are under the sponsorship of your father)
The reason for taking a blood group report is that you wont have to give your blood and wait and waste time for the test results.
The office opens at 7.30. So, try to be there by 7.15 in the morning. There are shops outside the centre where we can prepare the documents if needed, they will charge SR.10 for the file and form-filling. There is also a shop inside the centre compund. The watchman will recommend you to go there as he gets a good commission. My advice is, pls get it done outside the compund since inside they charge SR.20 only for the file and form-filling.
1 photo is required on the form. The remaining 5 photos must be stapled inside the file up side down and in a straight line along the edge (side by side).
Regarding the fees for the driving license:
Sr.80 for 2 years
Sr.200 for 5 years
Sr.400 for 10 years
You can pay the fees at any bank or else at the shops outside the centre. They charge an additional 50 riyals for the transaction. Get the receipt printed and verify your details i,e,name, iqama num etc. and keep the receipt with you.
Suppose you have prepared the documents and you get your file prepared at home and just need an application form, then head straight to the reception inside, the person verifies the file and gives you the form. Just beside that, is the translation window, if you have a valid driving license of your home country, then get it translated at a cost of SR.75. Give him the copy of the driving license you have. He will attach the translation to it. Put it back in the file.
Now head towards the medical test area, submit your file at the reception, he will ask you the blood group, show him your blood group test report. He will call you one by one for the eye test. He simply asks you directions (up,down,left,right) rather than that in hospitals.
He then sends you to another doctor for b.p level and weight checking. If you are healthy enough, he asks you to donate blood. Its not compulsory, but its upto you. If you are in a mood for donation then go for it. Else make a excuse saying that you did’nt have your breakfast or you had donated blood only a month back.
This doctor writes some comments on your file. Collect the file from this doctor and get back to the first doctor, get the file stamped from him.
Now get to counter no.5 in the first building (where you got your translation done). Keep your iqama and home country driving license handy as it is required in almost every step for verification.
Get the file stamped from counter 5. And head towards no.4 (test area). Get a token number from the guard and wait for your turn.
An imp.note: The test area at Mahjar is very small. Your test ends even before you get to know the car well i.e clutch and accel co-ordination. So my advise is pls practice on a Camry 2011 a day or two before you go for your test.
The first test: 4 people are seated and asked to drive on a rectangular track. There wont be any importance for rear view and side mirrors, indicators etc. If you try to adjust any one of them, the policeman starts yelling at you. Atleast you have the freedom to adjust your seat. Pls dont go for much details as he’ll get angry on you for wasting time.You dont even get to drive 25 meters. Just imagine, one round of the track (hardly 100meters) is completed by 4 people. The policeman asks you to shift into 2nd gear and then stop. He then asks for a reverse and that just about 2 meter.
He then stamps on your form and gives an alphabet:
Alif – 1 day class (signal class)
Bay – 5 days Class
Jeem – 15 days Class
Swad – 30 days Class
The fees for alif (1 day class is Sr.100) and for others is Sr.435 or according to the number of days.
Now go to the madrasa section, pay your fees depending on the letter you got. At this counter, your file is taken and a receipt is issued to you. This receipt must be retained till you get your license as you have to return the receipt to collect your license. The signals class in the morning shift is generally from 10am to 11am. So try to complete the previous works before 9.45am.
The person (teacher) provides with the signal paper. If you are good in arabic, then you can listen to the class, else start studying the symbols and signs on your own as he will be shouting in arabic and his words will go above your head.
After the class, you are headed towards the final test area. Again you are made to wait in a waiting hall and batches of 4 each are made. Here you will be provided with a performance form which you’ll have to give to the policeman who is taking your test.Pls dont make the mistake of atanding and watching outside as to how other people are driving, if the policeman catches you on this, he’ll directly send you back and then you’ll have to come for your test the next day.
Final test: again 4 people are sent. Here also the track is very small and a little confusing. Pls keep in mind that the policeman sitting beside you is already pissed off, so dont again go to adjust the things mentioned earlier. Just adjust your seat and wait for him to say go. If you are perfect in your driving, then sit in the 2nd or 3rd position and if you are not, then go for the 1st or 4th position.
The reason for this is that,
the first person has to drive the car till the bridge,
the second has to cross the bridge,
the third one has to take the car through “8” and
the last one has to take the vehicle back.
After your test is over, the policeman will write on the performance form and return it back to you. Get out of the car and walk to the waiting hall from where you had started the ride. The person will collect the form back from you.
After all the people have completed their test, the whole lot is taken to the computer room. In the computer test, you have to answer 15 out of 20 questions. You will be passed as soon as you give 15 correct answers. If you give 6 wrong answers, then the computer gets locked. Unfortunate for you people, i cant provide the information regarding the computer test as (fortunately for me), the computers were not working. So, we had a manual test. The policeman pointed out to the signs on the signal chart (which was given to us in the signal class), and we had to identify the signals. The computer has got several languages. We can answer the questions in our own preferred language, but the fear of correct or wrong, error in translation etc is always there. But here in manual test, the policeman knows only arabic, you answer in your own language (english,hindi etc), he wont know what you have answered. Anyways, he will pass you. I have mentioned the important questions for computer test (provided in the older comments) at the end of this comment.
The person sitting beside the policeman stamps the date of receiving of your license, generally it is the next day. You can confirm it at the first reception.
The next day, go to counter no.6 and find your license at the window glass. Give the receipt to the policeman and point out the license to him. He asks for your iqama and the receipt of payment of the license fees. Show them to him and collect the license.

As far I know there is two shift one starts from 7:00 AM – 12:00 and another starts from 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Class duration is 5 hours. I don’t know the
current timing. You should ask someone who recently had license.

I work night shifts and i have duty from 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. I start from home at 4:30 and go to sleep at 3:00 a.m. in the morning. I wanted to know if there are driving lesson schedules suitable for me – so that i can get at least 6 hours of sleep.
Can you tell me if there are classes between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.?

“X” means there is a track like “X” which is used for reverse parking test.
They will tell you the best way. When you will see behind right side door mirror will reach the corner of the
track immediately take full turn without rethinking and when car will take half turn then look into the mirror on top of
your head and adjust the car. If you take the class they will tell you the simple way to do that. Thank you.
For your Indian license I am not sure. I saw lots of people have little mistake in their license name and IQAMA name
dallah they don’t accept that license. Then he will be considered as fresh driver or 0 experience driver as like any others. But
you should at least try to take your Indian license if they accept it then it’s your plus point.

mr. ekram, i would like to give you my heartfelt gratitude and thanks for all the tips and answers to my queries before. after my second 5-day schooling, we were scheduled to take the final driving test last feb. 14, and fortunately, I passed and get my license on the second try. the police asked me to do the X and after that I’m done and he passed me. then afterwhich, I did the computer test and passed it also after answering 15 questions correctly. thank you very for your help.

I will be answering your questions..
1. Are there 2 fees seperately for License and Training?
Yup you have to pay 2 Separate Fees. For training you paid 435 SR and
they give you class starting receipt. For License you also already paid to Al
Rajhi Bank and it will stay until you didn’t receive your license.
2. If yes, then when i will have to show this Al Rajhi transaction receipt?
This Receipt will sometime checked when you will enter for final driving test. And
when you will receive your license.
3. After 5 days of training what is the step next, Is it computer test or Drive test again?
After 5 days of class they will give you a date to come at may be 7 AM. Don’t be Late. Police will take your driving test which is opposite side of the driving school field as same as that field Opposite Mirrored. If you pass that immediately they will take computer test if you pass after 2-3 days you will get your license. They will tell you which day you should come.

Today I went to make my license here in Jeddah. There is no need for sponsor letter nowadays. They didn’t make a translation of my Pakistani Driving License and said this is not acceptable here. So after completing medical and all procedures went to ground 1 for test drive and gave me 5 days training. After that, i went to submit my fee SR 435 and they gave me the slip showing the class timings.
But before all these procedures and before going to dallah, my brother who i am living with had deposited fee SR400 (In my name i.e Iqama Number) for License online via Al-Rajhi Bank (and I do have the receipt of transaction with me). My question is
1. Are there 2 fees seperately for License and Training?
2. If yes, then when i will have to show this Al Rajhi transaction receipt?
3. After 5 days of training what is the step next, Is it computer test or Drive test again?

I passed the exam almost 10 month ago. I think it should be same or you might find little difference but overall it should be same. But recheck with someone who passed recently.

As per I know 2nd time is also free. If you fail 2nd time you have to pay for classes.
my friend, i applied for a driving license in Mahjar Driving School in Industrial Area last month, and after 5 days of schooling, we were scheduled for the final test on the 6th day..but i failed the test because I hit one cone on X ..then they scheduled me for another 5 days schooling which will start today, they did not charge me of any fee for this, but I want to know, am I going to pay again for the final test? if yes, how much? hope you can help me clear this issue…thank you very much!
